Local Trial Bridge Support Program
Hilly/Rural part of Nepal is being benefited with Local Trial Bridge Support Program supported by Helvetas International and District Development Committee Sindhupalchok. In the rural part of Nepal Suspension bridge not only joins two geographically separated hills or villages but it is important means for over all development of the villages. Through such bridges villagers get the opportunity for the exchange of financial activities, trade, arts, culture etc. It is also taken as one of the important medium of transportation.
This program is currently being conducted in 16 VDCs of Sindhupalchok District. More than 26 thousand people are being benefited by this program.
Major Objectives of Trial Bridge Support Program are:
- To support responsibly for the construction of bridge technically as well as social mobility
- To coordinate and create easy environment among community people, DDC, Aids/Donors for the smooth conduction of bridge
- To help raise awareness, responsibility and ownership during smooth bridge construction period
Key Activities
Major activities of the project include formation and mobilization of community based organization; User Groups and User Committee for implementation of Trial Bridge at the community; provide capacity building trainings to User Groups through group mobilization; enabling project accountability through the conduction of public auditing and institutional building; good governance and demonstration model bridge training. The activity also includes preparation of the District Bridge Record (DBR) through survey of all old bridges of the district.
